NARACOORTE’S Dr Alison Gazard has been named the annual prize winner of the Naracoorte Herald’s local legend award.
The lucky local received a $500 voucher from Naracoorte Travel n Cruise to spend on a holiday of her choice.
Dr Gazard said she was not certain when she would book her holiday due to her busy schedule as a local doctor, but hopes to do some travelling in Australia within the next 12 months before the voucher expires.
“There are a lot of places that I haven’t been to in Australia,” she said.
Dr Gazard plans to invite her sister on the holiday as well.
“I’d like to go on a train from Sydney to Perth one day,” she said.
“You can relax on a train and talk to many different people.”
Dr Gazard said she would like to thank Naracoorte Travel n Cruise for the sponsorship of the prize.
Naracoorte Travel n Cruise owner/manager Tanya Mourbey said she was pleased and very happy that Alison won the award.
“It’s great that someone very deserving received the voucher as she (Alison) does an amazing job for our community,” she said.
“People don’t realise how much she actually does.”
Throughout the year the Kincraig Hotel in Naracoorte has also been sponsoring the Herald’s local legend competition by supplying monthly $50 vouchers to the nominated winners.
Kincraig Hotel manager Dave Clifford said they were happy to support the local legend competition.
“It’s a great small town initiative,” he said.
Check out the first 2015 edition of the Naracoorte Herald coming out on January 8 to find out what exciting monthly competition will be running next year.
