THE year is drawing to a close and members are getting ready to host family and friends who visit the area over the holiday season.

However, in perfect bowling weather we still managed to have 52 bowlers on the greens in 8 games of triples and 1 game of pairs.

Congratulations to Connie McDonald, Ted Scott, Verna Jeffrey, Keith Clayworth and Sue Gates celebrating their birthdays this week.

Also best wishes to Ted and Laura Scott who are celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary.

We had an early start at 3.30pm that took some players by surprise.

We managed to fit in 12 ends and the Christmas spirit was alive with the sight of all the red and green shirts with many Santa hats.

Winners of the fruit trays on Rink 1 were Shirley Overgaard and Ken Coull.

The runners up on Rink 4 were Edith Brooker, Geoff Hosking and Ann Steel.

The lucky losers were Archie McDonald, Stan Galbraith and Lil Allen.

The raffle winners were Tony Gates, Ken Coull, Alison Fancourt, Kay Bassett, Patti Kirkman X 2, Rosie Ansley and a visitor Pam, the sister of Shirley Overgaard.

We welcomed back Sue Gates and visiting bowler Len Birrel, all the way from Molong Pam and Ron Crocker.

Great food platters were served and then we settled into “sitting down while standing up slap stick comedy” with a very professional stage act. The entertainment was wonderful and well done to all players.

Santa and Mrs Clause arrived with a gift for all good bowlers.

Finally five lucky door tickets were draw for the lovely hampers that were put together by the committee and the winners were Shiela Rowley, Rosie Ansley, Ted Scott, John Morgan and Wendy Wallis.

The next bowling day will be December 29 and therefore no bowls on December 22, 2014.

Merry Christmas to all!
