Terry Richardson with his recently published novel, Justice for Constable Cook.Terry Richardson from Henty has fulfilled one of his lifetime goals by having his novel, Justice for Constable Cook, published after years of writing and years of contacting literary agents.
Mr Richardson attempted to go the traditional route to get his book onto shelves but literary agents in Australia weren’t interested.
He then sent it to America and got the offer to have his book published by ‘Rosedog’ who print it on a demand basis.
“I am very proud and very happy,” Mr Richardson said.
“I would love to bring it to Australia (to be published) if I got the chance.”
After starting the book in 1987 it has been a long working progress. In that time he gave the book to friends and strangers to get their feedback.
The book follows the story of two men, undercover detective Al Carmody and his friend and ex-policeman, Ian, who are working to solve the murder of Constable Cook.
Drawing on his own past Mr Richardson is able to use real towns and areas along with invented ones to take the reader back in time to 1970.
Characters in the book are either invented or based loosely on people he has worked with or knows well.
