A grade winners Leaguies consisted of, from left – Ray James, Lee Davis, Justin Terrill, Rosie Drayton, and Aamon Delaney. subParkes Services Squash Centre’s summer volley squash competition for 2014 finished up last week.
The A grade front draw couldn’t get much closer with 1300 Bugman going for their third title in a row.
They were up against Leaguies, who have been favourites for a number of seasons but have not managed to win.
Leaguies came out firing, taking the first two games 22-20 and 21-8.
1300 Bugman found form to take games three and four, 21-18 and 21-16 respectively.
The final game was a marathon, with Leaguies eventually able to get the two point margin to win, 25-23.
The A grade backdraw was taken out by Cougars over Moo Cows.
It was a fitting way for Cougars to end a long and successful run in the volley squash competition. They took the game 21-15, 21-3, 17-21, 12-21, 21-14.
The B grade front draw saw Oon Saah and Autobots clash.
Autobots got the early edge by winning the first game 26-24 before Oon Saah hit back in the second game 21-8.
After winning the third, 21-17, Autobots looked like causing an upset.
However, Oon Saah rallied to take the match 21-17 and 21-14.
The back draw for B grade was taken out by Ruff Nuts over Coachy in another five game match – 21-19, 16-21, 26-24, 21-18, 21-18.
The C grade front draw was between Inflammable Monkeys and Ray White Allsorts.
Ray White started slowly, only scoring 12 points in the first game before settling in to take the following three games 21-12, 21-18 and 21-9 to take the C grade trophy.
C grade back draw final was between The A Team and RC Ones.
RC Ones looked sharp in the first game, edging out the opposition 21-19, before The A Team found form to win the next three, 21-19, 21-19 and 21-17.
The D Grade front draw was a five game effort, with Parkes Pandas taking the first two games (21-17, 22-20) over the Ray White Goodsorts.
Ray White found form to even games at 2-all, 21-16 and 21-19.
Pandas proved too strong though and took the fifth 21-15.
The D grade back draw saw the only three game match of the night with Senseful getting a good win over Knock Knock 21-14, 21-17 and 21-16.
The comp for 2015 kicks off on January 29 and is already full.
However, a new business house volley squash competition is scheduled to start mid-January and will run for around 14 weeks.
