The 15 year-old Billabong High student is part of the Riverina Choir and was selected to perform with the central choir at the school spectacular recently.

Being in a regional area Emily was selected for the choir after the Riverina Choir sent in a DVD of her singing.

After selection she received the songs she had to learn and then learnt the choreography with a few other students selected for the choir.

With many of the choir member from regional areas they only get two rehearsals before the event.

“On Wednesday we had our first rehearsal then Thursday is a full dress rehearsal. It’s bit daunting not knowing what to do on the stage,” Emily said.

Emily is currently completing musical theatre exams on top of her school work through Australian Speech Communication Association (ASCA).

“It’s a hard industry to get into (musical theatre) in regional areas but hopefully going to Sydney I can get into the performing arts school there,” Emily said.

Her goals are fully supported by her family who are also music orientated.

“My Dad’s in a choir and my sister plays the trumpet,” Emily said.
